Slum children Education

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 19:14-15

Street Children

Access to quality education is essential for a brighter future, however, many disadvantaged children face challenges in acquiring it. This limited access not only hinders their potential but also continues the cycle of poverty. Offering educational assistance to deserving children from marginalized communities can have a profound impact on their lives. Poverty in slums restricts educational opportunities, leading to malnutrition, health problems, and child labour. Moreover, substandard living conditions and poor sanitation expose them to exploitation and early marriages, particularly affecting girls. RFM adopted some slums and titled the name as Hope For India Project. Under RFM India, there are more than 100 children.

Overview

Children in slums, especially girls, face high dropout rates due to societal pressures like early marriage and household responsibilities, leading to low literacy and math skills. Supporting educational programs will greatly improve their lives by providing free schooling, backing educational institutions, and ensuring every child in the slums has access to education and can thrive.

According to the United Nations, 20% of children aged 6 to 17 lack educations, and 617 million young individuals lack basic literacy and math skills. Without intervention, they may perpetuate illiteracy. In India, 65 million children aged six to fourteen are not in school, with girls facing discrimination and early marriage.
